EDDYS MOTO of TADCASTER

THE HISTORY BEHIND EDDYS?

Eddys Moto first opened in June 2010 after Eddy Wright (Director) realised retired life wasnt what he hoped it to be. Eddy is a Yorkshireman from Middleton in Leeds and has been interested in motorcycles since he started out as a telegram boy for the Post Office on a Bsa Bantam D1 at the age of 16. Once Eddy turned 18, he was no longer allowed to use the 125 D1 Bantams to deliver telegrams so decided to leave the Post Office to open his first shop in leeds at  the age of 19. The year of 1970 was the opening of Eddys Motorcycles on West Street Leeds. Almost a year later, Eddys shop was knocked down to build the Leeds inner ring road. Eddy moved half a mile away to Kirkstall. After moving to Kirkstall road, the UK interest in bikes was extremely high aiding Eddys Motorcycles to sell over 30,000 bikes from 1976 to 1993. Eddy had multiple motorcycle shops between Leeds and Hull selling all the big names and even a couple of car manufacturers. After Eddys success selling all the big names, in 1997 Eddy opened a Harley-Davidson showroom on 217 Kirkstall road. From 1997 to 2007 Eddy Wright Harley-Davidson was thriving and in 2007 the shop sold more bikes than any other dealer in the UK.

After over 30 years of success, Eddy decided to call it a day and retire in 2008. Eddy spent two years fishing and racing sidecars unitll he then realised retirement was not as good as he thought it was going to be. Eddy had a back up plan in mind, and in 2010 Eddys Moto was opened in Shipley West Yorkshire selling motorcycles that eddy first started out by selling, now known as classics. Eddys Moto has also expanded to selling New Royal Enfields and BSA Motorcycles.

As Royal Enfield sales in 2017 were very high, Eddys Moto had to expand and opened a second showroom in Tadcaster North Yorkshire which now has the record for selling the most Royal Enfields in one year! Eddys Sidecar passenger and step son, Kieran is now managing the shop in Tadcaster. Kieran now also races the Dayglo Orange Team Sidecar which he manufactured himself and Won the British Classic Championship of 2021!

Recently the shops are both booming and sales are at a high. Eddys Moto still retains the top step for the most Royal Enfields sales in the UK from one shop!

Earlier in the year of 2022, BSA contacted Eddy and Kieran in order to become the UK Main Dealer in the North or England. As Eddy started his motorcycle career selling BSA's and TRIBSA Motorcycles, he didn't hesitate in his decision. Eddy Wright BSA started in 2022 along side Eddys Moto.

2023 and we are operating out of one main store at Tadcaster. We are currently the Top Selling Dealer for Royal Enfield and BSA motorcycles.
